The before and after of the restoration of a headboard and canopy from an Ohezeru, a Basque bed from the Butrón River Basin. The intervention was carried out partially in order to show the contrast between the previous state and the result after restoration. In this video you can see the process of recovering its original polychromy: the removal of degraded varnishes, controlled cleaning of the surface, and chromatic reintegration of losses, respecting at all times the principles of conservation and reversibility. This work is part of the Basque Museum’s series of outreach activities and will allow the public to learn, through the visitable storage facility, about the technical processes that normally remain hidden.
